MaxMTU Settings Not Working for this Fix

Wow - what a day. I have been going back and forth from host computer to client computer
trying to get my windows ME computer to load all of the sites that the host computer
loads. I have done exactly what it says in the fix in this post by changing the MaxMTU,
etc., but the same problem persists, and everytime I ping, the MaxMTU that I can
ping gets lower each time (as in previous posts) but I also just read that people
with routers should not even have this problem, and I am using a router, so now I
am very confused. Here is my setup and problem...
My Host computer is a Windows XP with a Bellsouth Westfall DSL modem. There is a
Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHZ router hooked up to this computer.
My client computer is a Windows ME with a Netgear Wireless Adapter.
My router configuration has some of the following settings that were automatically
populated via the Wizard that came with the linksys router:
PPPoE
MTU: Auto (I did change this to manual and entered the MaxMTU many times to match
the changes I made to the ME computer with no luck.)
DHCP Server: Enabled
I thought everything was working fine after I hooked this network up, but then I
couldn't access some sites and the host computer could. So I searched and found these
MaxMTU setting fixes. But that did not work for me so now I am wondering how to fix
my problem. :o(
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It seems like everyone else that has a router
and wireless adapter doesn't even have the problem of some web sites not working.
I hope someone can help. I have searched the Internet for days for a solution to
my problem.
Thank you!
