I've tried everything and nothing worked. This fixed my problem with the WINTRUST.DLL and stmgr error and the lack of restore capabilities which all started after I downloaded the MS security fix in Dec 2005. Restore works again!!! The MS support was non existent on this one--which they caused with their huge security fix!!
