There are many causes of this type of problem. To fix most of them, you have to
"clean up" your system, make sure you have current device drivers, etc. and stop
trying to install so much, at least until you have your system working correctly.
The most common cause of this is ADware/Spyware programs or Virus and Trojan programs.
They all don't like you shutting them down and will conflict with each other. Back
level Etherent adapter drivers (even if you are not using an Ethernet adapter but
have on in the system) and older video drivers are known to cause shutdown hangs.
One thing you can do when shutting down and it hangs, is to press (at the same
time) the Ctrl - Alt - Del keys to get the Task List and see what is running or not
responding. Might give you a clue as to what is causing the shutdown hangs.
First run you installed Anti-Virus program in manual mode and make sure you system
is free of Virus type programs. You can also run several of the different free OnLine
Virus scanners. You will want to install the two main ADware/Spyware scanners also
to help clean up your system.
