Can't get by password dialog at startup

My son has a pc in his room running windows ME; this weekend, one of his friends was messing around with the settings; all of a sudden, the resolution has changed, the mouse cursor is not visible, and now a username and password is being requested to log into windows at startup; since there is no cursor, I cannot select cancel to get around it, and my son's friend has no idea what username and password he may have entered; I do have a dos startup disk for the system; is there a way to boot into dos and go in and remove the windows login requirement? When the login dialog appears, the only control I have is to hit the key and of course it tells me the password is not correct; I have no control with any other keys to navigate to the key, etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve
