They would run about the same. NT will take a lot longer to boot up than Windows
ME, but will be more stable. The problem is the slow machine, not the OS. A lot
of the new software is being written for Windows XP and will run on NT, but not Windows
98/ME systems. Developers just do not want to support the old versions of Windows.
Microsoft is dropping all support for Windows 98/ME in a few months and discourging
developers from supporting it also, pushing Vista. Less than 5% of the systems that
people will buy any software are running Windows 98 or ME.
