I assume you have tried uninstalling the software, rebooting a few times and then
doing the install again. Make sure that in the MSCONFIG - Startup tab there is only
one instance of an entry pointing to the ODHOST.exe file from linksys.
Disabling that entry should at least allow you to boot the system without error,
but the Linksys adapter will not work without it.
As strange as it seems, you may need to check at the Microsoft Windows Update
site for Windows ME updates. Check and see if it shows an update for your installed
version of Windows Media Player (not just an update to a newer versions).
There could be a problem with your Windows Media Player software, or a missing codec.
Be sure to install the Windows Update site WMP 9 codecs package for Windows
ME if not installed.
Also verify that you have DIRECT-X version 9.0c installed. If not you need
to update your system to the current version of Direct-X from the Windows Update
site. Large download. You might want to dowload the install to a CD-R and install
that way. To check RUN - DXDIAG and in the main list of System Information it should
show the version as DirectX 9.0c
Last, if you have the .NET package installed, check for Updates to it. (You don't
need the "dot" NET package but if you have it installed you might need the service
pack update for it.)
