This *might* solve it - I had SLOW performance
of WORD upon opening new files until DELL told
me this solution:
Check the size of the Normal.DOT template file,
probably located somewhere like:
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
I've had this problem for years. You can delete
this file and Word just creates a new, smaller
version of the template. I do this every week.
