I have the same problem with the volume control grayed out. Also on the System on the control panel, it indicates that the sound device is working properly. I tried your recomendation of going to Services and Applications>Services and looking for AudioSrv. This and nothing similar do not appear under Services. I think this is a clue to my problem. However, I do not know where to go from here. Can you help?
