The Windows Update site will still install the existing Win ME updates. It's just
that M$ are not creating any new updates for Win ME.
The Updates site is one of those for which you have to enable javascript, cookies,
etc in your browser in order for the update software to work.
It's easy to switch off all sorts of internet options, for valid security reasons,
in IE6. But if you do so, you'll lose access to the Update site. The site is one
that (if you use it) you should add to your "Trusted sites" list:
Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted sites
with all internet options enabled for that zone. The site's Update software should
work okay then.
You'll only need to visit the site once (unless you are unlucky enough to have to
reinstall Windows at some point), because M$ are not going to add any further updates
to the site.
