OK. This is kinda wierd. After reading this thread, I used the Start Menu to visit
the update site
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
and I got the same MAC reply. Which is completely bogus as I run WinME, am in the
USA, etc. What's even worse is that going to just
http://www.microsoft.com/
gave the same bogus MAC message. I've never had this happen before. So I deleted
all the tempory files AND all the M'soft cookies, and that fixed the problem. So
now I can visit the update site, and I get all the usual responses. You might try
what I did.
