Well done solojam. Glad everything has worked out for you.

Here's an old tip, but a goodie: use ScanReg for Windows (located at C:\WINDOWS\SCANREGW.EXE)
to make an extra backup of your Windows registry now, while the registry's in full
working order.

Then go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSBCKUP and make a copy of this latest backup (a .CAB file),
and store the copy in C: root or on the Desktop, so that you can later restore it
to C:\WINDOWS\SYSBCKUP in an emergency.

I often find myself advising people about problems which they can't solve, simply
because it's been more than 5 days since the problem arose, so they have no surviving
registry backup (because Windows only keeps these backups for 5 days).

If you "cheat", by putting a working backup on one side, you can put it back into
C:\WINDOWS\SYSBCKUP at any time, even weeks later. (The thing to remember is to put
a new copy on one side once a month, so that you never lose more than a month's worth
of registry changes).

Ed
