Joan, please post a better description of the problem, specifying:

(a) Which program / file you are downloading, and have the problem with.

(b) Also specifying precisely *what* the problem actually is.

(c) State the *exact* wording of any error message that you are seeing.

(d) Give the name of the downloader program you are using, if any.

(e) If the downloader program is your internet browser, state which browser (and 
which *version* of that browser) you are using.

(f) Give the internet URL address of the file that you are downloading.

(g) Ask your friend whether she did actually cancel something in the middle, and 
if so at what point she cancelled.

And post those details here.
