windows ME corrupted how to repair??

Hi I have a problem that my MS ME has corrupted and i unable to log in to windows.Whenever
i try to log in this message appear:
"While initializing dev IFMGR the microsoft installable File System Manager cannot
find the helper driver.Please ensure that IFSHLP SYS has abeen installed.System halted"
Question: Is there any possible way that i can fix this problem without format my
pc.I have a lot of important data inside the pc.What i can do .Pls help.....
