Hi:
Much of this advice might be useful IF I COULD STAY ON THE NET long enough to download
files. My Mshtml error doesn't give me time to DO ANYTHING on the net.
I get the messages, as everyone else does, then it kicks me out.
Using another machine I've tried to find:
1) A 'complete' install for IE6 - but the downloaded file wants to talk with
the net as it installs so I can't install it, since I'm trying to re-install on the
PC with the problem;
2) SOME solutions say install X & Y (Q file #'s with 'exe' extensions) - but
these say, on installation, "need Service Pack 1"
CAN'T FIND a 'COMPLETE' Svc Pk 1, that doesn't want to talk to the net when it's
installing itself.
THIS IS SO TYPICAL of Microsoft: "Got a problem? CAN'T GET ON THE NET? - here's the
fix. GET ON THE NET AND download... " etcetera! Give me a BREAK!
3) One solution appears to be to reinstall the original dll designed for WinMe:
Mshtml.dll VERSION 6.0.2600.0. Following the advice, I tried to (RE-)extract it from
the Cab archive, but the (dll) file was MISSING entirely. So... I CANNOT FIND COPY
OF THIS dll ANYWHERE. There are copies of Version 2800 & etc., (non of which made
a bit of difference) everywhere. But not THIS one, which makes no sense at all if
it IS the actual solution?
PLEASE:
Where can I get a COMPLETE download of IE6 and also, a COMPLETE copy of that particular
dll file Version 6.0.2600.0? - that I can save to a flash drive, take to my own PC,
load and install?
I don't know who you are, but I certainly appreciate all the hard work and effort
it must take to run a site like this. Sorry I've no money to contribute: if I had
money, I could maybe upgrade to 2007 and be rid of this problem.
Sincerely,
Ant2
