domain confusion leads to error on start-up

I wrote last week about problems with my new installed AT&T high speed internet activation
that included DSL applications (on top) of applications
that I had on my computer that was connected to a
router(is no more). I took Carol`s advise and deleted the DSL applications (thanks
also to Steve)
However, my problem today is self-inflicted. During the installation process (by
myself), I was
instructed to enter a domain name somewhere???
I obviously mis-fired with the keys and entered something no even close to the command
requested by the installation CD. So now, here is
my problem.(Carol, I think I am in the right forum)
with this question: Everytime I click the start button on my computer, everything
seems normal,
until this message appears on the screen. "No DOMAIN name is found and you may not
be able to
activate some applications". I click on the cancel button, and a next message appears
asking for the
name of computer, followed by my password, followed by a request for a domain. I
click the cancel button and I AM allowed into the internet.
So what did i do wrong????Help Carol, Steve, anyone. Thanks in advance. Elmoticky
