i have aol 8.0 it keeps going off

i have a gateway computer since 2001 memory is 255 i use aol 8.0 it goes off when
i am online i don't know why. i run scan disk it fixes the errors but it still goes
off checked my antivirus no viruses i have internet explorer 6.0 i don't know what
to do does anyone have anything to help me thank you
