thanks for the help, i went back to the dos prompt, typed in what i did that started this whole thing. f-disk. i dont even know what it means? but i then got a list of partitioned drives and found the drive listed, deleted the drive that was partitioned, or sub partioned. and it was gone, changed my cd rom back to d: drive and its back to normal, thanks again. for your help. much appreciated. joe
