Delete everything you want gone and manually create a new restore point. If you
want, you can also turn off system restore which will delete all restore points and
then you can create a new ones. They are not created automatically when you make
changes to your system. Only major changes and updating will create them depending
on how much drive space you have reserved for system restore. Sounds like you may
have some malware running in your system also. Have you done an indepth sweep with
a number of different malware tools and do you have a good updated AV running?
System restore will not restore user data, but it will restore apps and system files
and registry which can revive old junk that was referenced in the restore point if
it is still viable (not overwritten in the file system)..
It's not unusual to have to reboot Windows 9X after playing games and other operations.
Win 9X doesn't handle resources or maintain the system near as well as W2K and XP
for heavy or game use. There are some utilities that can monitor and free up resources,
but I still always found that a reboot was best.
