I wasn't suggesting wasting any money on the problem. I didn't even mention money!
I am willing to suggest some very effective freeware undelete programs, if you're
interested in trying them.
I'm sorry to learn that you lost an entire directory of files. This is, however,
far from what you previously said, when you indicated that only two files were missing.
If you've lost a massive quantity of mp3 music files, the chances are that some of
them will be recoverable from the affected hard disk, with the right software, especially
if you have prudently not written any further data to the disk in question. Were
they in fact mp3 files?
By not mentioning your need for undelete software in the subject line you may have
missed out on helpful advice that other people could have given you at a much earlier
stage.
You might start by trying the program Undelete Plus at Undelete Plus - but DO NOT download it onto the affected hard disk.
Download it to a floppy disk or a different hard disk.
Effective data recovery may necessitate your installing a second hard disk on the
system, if you don't already have one, on the spare IDE channel, to install the program
onto and to recover the deleted files onto.
