wordpad error message

I am on windows me, and am presently receiving an error message when trying to open
up my wordpad, it states: C:\WINDOWS\Destop\ " ".doc is not a valid win 32 application
(ive put the inverted commas in instead of the file name for privacy reasons), but
i had my wordpad on my desktop and received the same error message, and with this
wordpad file also, and, I firmly believe all this started when i tried to open up
a webpage from an email, but, this email is suppose to be from a 'safe' website,
and now i cannot use any wordpad on my computer, i can get into webpages no problem
and still download, just cant use my wordpad, and i do not have 'notepad' on my computer,
and no, i do not have my 'windows me' program software, so i cannot reinstall the
windows program, is there anything I can do? can someone please help me? thank you.
