You probably have a fairly easy to fix problem.

Here are some links. Read the information they link to, which will help you to understand how Outlook Express works. You should then be able to work out what is wrong, and to correct it.

These links also include some tools (utility programs) for correcting a range of OE problems, including a program for extracting e-mails from .dbx files if you can't open them in any other way.
