Although I can't off hand recall the specifics, there are software programs available
which will write ("burn") a DVD as multiple smaller files, instead of as one giant
file.
These programs have been developed because of the necessity, with dual-layer discs,
to record DVD's as more than just one big file. But they could also be used to split
a DVD into several files in order to circumvent the 4GB file size limit under FAT32.
