System Restore did something crazy..

I performed system restore. It took forever. When it restarted it said it wasn't
successful, and no changes were made. However, something happened because there were
all sorts of changes: missing shortcuts, shortcuts to programs I deleted long ago,
lots of missing programs, several .exe files, etc., in the C:/ windows/all users/application
data folder. AVG antivirus gone, Mozilla Firefox showed as empty under Start/Program
Files, but the program ran fine. MISSING apps: didn't remember Super Anti spy ware.
----------------Now the main problem------------------- My printer is not working.
When I try to print an old Word document, it says, "Current printer is unavailable.
Select another printer." Then, when I create a new Word document, it says, "Windows
cannot print due to a problem with the current printer set up." ----------------------I've
ran the All In One Series Web Release (because I couldn't find my original disk).
It looked like it installed fine, but I keep getting the same thing. Immediately
after installation, HP manager (the HP icon) kept flashing in my "running programs"
at the bottom right of the screen. It was like it was trying to run, but couldn't.
When I use the desktop Start/Programs/HP/Uninstall, it does nothing. It won't print
a test page from printer properties either. At this point, I would just like to uninstall
it (manually, or however possible) and try the All In One Web Release again. I'm
baffled as to how system restore has messed my computer/printer up like this. It's
like certain programs are there (in the start menu, etc.), but the computer doesn't
see them. Any help is appreciated.
