Greetings.
WinMe is giving me the same problem over & over.
At first I could not attach IPX/SPX to my PCMCIA
ethernet card. Then I could not attach IPX/XPX
to my PCMCIA WLAN card. Now I can not attach
IPX/SPX to neither my USB 2.0»Ethernet adapter
nor my USB»USB datalink/network adapter.
Somehow I eventually managed to attach
IPX/SPX to the PCMCIA cards, but I don't know how
& could/can not repeat this.
On the Network Configuration tab I
choose the relevant adapter ,
choose Add,
choose AddProtocol,
choose Microsoft as manufacturer,
choose IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol &
choose OK.
WinME then goes back to the
Select Network Component Type
[Client, Protocl, Service] screen
without binding IPX/SPX.
If I add TCP/IP, the WinME screens disintegrate
back to the Network Configuration tab
after binding TCP/IP.
It seems to me I previously somehow managed
to have WinME bind the IPX/SPX by choosing
Have Disk & then selecting some .inf file
from Windows/Inf. I can bind IPX/SPX without
problems to all cards/adapters on my XP laptops.
I found years ago that I needed to use IPX/SPX
for LAN networking when each laptop was
connected to the internet via WLAN.
There seemed to be TCP/IP conflicts and
using IPX/SPX negated any such conflicts.
I have my WinME install CD, but not with me.
I will have the install CD again in June2008.
I have all the install CD cab files with me
on external storage.
I really, really, really, really must put an end
to this annoyance. I would like to do so
by successfully resolving this problem.
Any insights appreciated.
Thank you.
Regards,
AEN
