You can't. Pressing the F10 key during startup on a Compaq computer only accesses
the Compaq diagnostics tools, which are on a special diagnostic partition of the
disk. It's nothing to do with the BIOS.
In order to access the BIOS screen during startup on a Compaq PC you should instead
press the key which Compaq has designated for that purpose. Unhelpfully, this varies
from model to model. So consult your PC's instruction manual for details.
If you have lost the manual, it is back to trial and error. Try one of these keys:
DEL, F1, F5, F8, F11, F12 (and on some models you also have to hold down the CTRL
or ALT key simultaneously). If those don't do the trick, try the other F keys (one
at a time).
I must say, I'm surprised. The Compaq Presario that I had in the old days displayed
a message on-screen during POST:
Press F2 to enter Setup
