XP is easier to install, all the Partition tools are built into the CD. Set your
CD rom to be first boot Device, and boot to the XP CD. At the first Partition screen
it will see the Old Partiton you made. Delete it, then create a New one, then Format,
then the Install starts.
Just read the Prompts carefully, don't have to hurry
Personally I always just make a small Partition for Windows, like 12 to 15 Gigs depending
on how many Programs I might normally install. Then leave the rest of the Disk for
Data storage. You can move the My Document Folders over for example to the Big Partition
later on if you do that.
It make sense to keep your Data separated from Windows.
A lot easier to back stuff up that way. If you do leave the rest of the disk as unallocated
Space during the first part of the windows install, you can Partition it inside Windows
with the Disk Management tools that XP has.
