The error usually means that a hard drive has failed or become corrupted and/or damaged.
Without being able to get into the BIOS to check the boot order of the drive(s)
and possibly some other settings etc, there isn't much you can start to check. You
will need hands on assistance from someone knowledgeable to help you, and will need
the manufacturers documentation to start a good troubleshooting procedure for testing
or determining if you have a hardware issue first off. If hardware is OK, then you
get into a very serious multistep process of determing what you can do to repair
the Windows install, if it is even possible. If it isn't, someone needs to guide
you through saving any data you want to keep (again if possible depending on what
is, or went wrong) and reinstalling Windows or running the recovery options from
either the hard drive, or the recovery media that was originally shipped with the
computer. Docs/faqs should be on HP's website now (as HP now owns Compaq).
