Any reply Vance might give you is unlikely to help you, because he is running Windows
XP, and has posted in the WRONG forum. A solution which works for Windows XP is not
likely to work for Windows ME.
By going to START > RUN and typing MSCONFIG then clicking OK you can run the System
Configuration Utility. Its STARTUP tab allows you to switch off some (though not
all) of the functions which run at startup.
There are many locations in the Windows registry which run programs at Startup. If
MSCONFIG doesn't solve your problem, you might try buying the (inexpensive) program
System Mechanic from http://www.iolo.com
which provides an easy to use interface that lets you switch off functions which
load from the Windows registry at startup - without you having to edit the registry
manually.
