Re When I choose "Shut Down" from the Start Menu, my computer hangs at the "Please Wait" screen:

I have a Windows 98 networked with a Win ME. Sometimes the 98 hangs on shutdown. I ususally fix this by plugging the network plug into the ME (sometimes it comes off) or by simply switching the ME machine on. This seems to unhang the 98 and make it shutdown. Could it possibly be hanging whilst polling the network cable? Any ideas?
