How to prevent BSODs in '98 but NOT with ME. CUT & PASTE to an email message to activate
the html link.
It is said that there are 7 missing VxDs which can be responsible for many of the
BSODs which occur with '98.
These are:
configmg.vxd
ntkern.vxd
vcomm.vxd
vdd.vxd
vdmad.vxd
vflatd.vxd
vmouse.vxd
You should copy these from your cabinet files into C:\Windows\System and then reboot
your computer.
Make sure that you run scanregw.exe and put a registry restore point in BEFORE you
do. Just in case there is a problem.
Alternatively there is a .zip-file fix available. (See also a shut-down fix for '98
half-way down the page.)
