I have a error message of a unknown device trying to load at start up yet there are no unknown devices listed in the device manager.

i dont know if it's the same or not but from what i can gather of the original message i'm running into a similar issue. i boot up in win98se and it brings up the install new hardware dialog box. no error message but it's looking for a driver to soemthing which is ironic because i havent added anything in a year or so and this has only been happening for the past week or so. dont know if that was the original issue or not but it seemed to be fairly close.
