Explorer has caused an error in OLE32.DLL

Hopefully someone will be able to help me with a very frustrating problem. Windows ME loads fine for me and everything works at first, but after awhile (time varies from 1 minute to a half hour) everything freezes up and I get an error message saying "Explorer has caused an error in OLE32.DLL. Explorer will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer." I have scanned my computer with antivirus software (no virus was found) and I ran ScanDisk and Defrag. However, the problem persists. Anyone know what is going on?

LMAO.....sry to laugh about your problem, but i have to. this is a very common problem. there's a couple different things that you can try. i use the msn explorer and the internet explorer to browse. i mainly use the msn and haven't had any problems. occasionally when i'm using the internet explorer i incounter the same problem. you can try to use a different browser. do you have the latest version of internet explorer? i do believe that it's 6. if not then you need to get it. also, look to see if there are any service pack updates for the internet explorer that you haven't gotten yet. get those. if all else fails then uninstall and reinstall. i don't know what you're runnin on your system. i had 128megs ram on mine and a lot of my problems where because of that. when i installed more ram-over 700megs of ram-my problems have greatly decreased. try those things and let us know. good luck rebecca

First thing you need to do is reinstall Internet Explorer 6.0....that will clear it up for the most part... I have a high ram machine also, but that error is software related... that mainly happens with the install of openGl.... that is often a big part of Hi graphic games. I had the same exact error after installing openGl..and had to reboot into safe mode, remove IE and reinstall it.. then reinstalled the games and no prob....

The following patch for Windows seems to be the answer for this one. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS01-054.asp

Within the URL listed below is a link to download the WinME patch. When you click on that link, the page does not exist. Where can I go to download this elusive WinME patch? - Thanks
