Question about 'How do I uninstall Windows?'

HI! I have had lots of trouble since installing my full version of Windows ME, as an upgrade over W98. In the end, I got completely fed up with it, and took my entire hard drive out of my PC, put it into my Parents, and reformatted it. I would have done it in mine, but it wouldn't let me! I probably missed something really inane, but anyways... I then put it back into mine, but I kept getting the same message; "Invalid System Disk. Replace disk, and press any key" Was it the Me CD? No. was it the boot disk I made form my parent's ME? I think not! PLEASE HELP! Even a BSOD would be nice, becuase at least it gives you some weird code to decipher, instead of what I am getting now! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you tested your boot floppy in another machine. If you're sure it's a good bootable floppy your system probably isn't booting from it. Look in your BIOS settings and see if it's set to boot from A: before C:. The Windows ME CD that came with my computer is bootable. If your computer can boot from CD try that.

HI!

thanks for the quick reply!

Yes, I tried that; even adjusted my BIOS to boot from the CD Drive first, but to
no avail! I think the next step may be to replace the BIOS, but I really don't have
a clue how to do that one! Any thoughts? Cheers!

ok what you could try is setting the first boot option in the bios and from cdrom then your me disk should install when you then go to install you will have the option to format then do so by the way make a back up disk when it asks you and also remember that when its installing and rebooting to go back into the bios and set it to carry on and continue from hh0 or hhd1 as the first boot option being changed from cdrom again to your harddrive where hopefully it would have placed all ya windows files to carry on a blissful install joker (ps no joke)

if your boot disk isnt working or is it messed up you can always go into the bios and change to boot from cdrom then from there you can format and reinstall windows most operating cd's are bootable now days try booting from your windows cd and make sure you have your boot sequence set right in the bios
