Question about 'Identifying the programs that Windows runs at boot'

I have a question about Identifying the programs that Windows runs at boot:

"My Documents" Folder opens automatically when Windows ME starts up. This is not a major emergency, but it is soo irritating not knowing why! If anyone could help, i would greatly appreciate it.

I may be stating the obvious but have you tried; Start; Run; type msconfig then click start up tab to have a good look at what gets started and how on boot-up?

Frank, Actually i had not done msconfig until you just mentioned it, but it does not have "my documents" listed there. That would be too easy right! hehe. Thanks for the tip though! I now know how to check it in the future. Any other ideas why this might be happening?

I'm running Windows ME and the My Documents folder was opening at startup. In another forum, I read that the DlDer.exe infection sometimes created a fake EXPLORER.EXE file. I had noticed in running msconfig that there was an EXPLORER.EXE file in the startup tab. I disabled it and the problem was solved. So, go to Start>Run>type msconfig in the box>OK. Click on the Startup Tab. Scroll down to see if you have an EXPLORER.EXE file in your list. If so, simply uncheck the box in front of it. Click apply and the OK. Restart your computer.
