Many DOS games that i have dont work with ME and even some old Hardware doesnt work
with ME such as Light Guns. Is there something like a patch that i can download
that will make ME work with 95/98 software and hardware?

Microsoft went to great lengths to hide DOS from users, but it is still there in
ME. Also, there is a great deal of hardware that didn't have decent drivers written
for ME.
Basically, ME is stuck in the middle - trying not to be DOS, and not succeeding in
being an NT-based OS. If you want to play DOS games, switch to 98 - it's more stable
and has more drivers written for it.

I have had a similar problem, until I realised, all I needed was a Win 95 boot disk,
I loaded all the cd drivers, but had to tinker about to find out my soundcard settings.
Once that was done and written to the autoexec.bat file, all I needed to do was configure
my dos game and run it.
Be aware that it isn't always easy finding dos drivers for new soundcards though,
but you may have one on the cd that came with your sound card.

IFor Windows Millennium users you can either try tweaking the options of the EXE/COM
file or make a startup disk. I recommend attempting the try the former first, then
the latter. To change the options of an EXE or COM file.
Right click on the icon and left click on Properties.
First of all click on Program at the top and tick the box "Prevent MS-DOS programs
from detecting Windows".
Click on the memory tab at the top and you can change the amount of Expanded memory
in there. I recommend about 4096, which should be okay for most games. The program
usually indicates how much it needs however.
Click on OK at the bottom to save the changes and try running the game again.
if it doesn't let you adjust the expanded memory support in a WinME Dos Box, it’s
probably because EMM386.EXE can’t load without help. You should explicitly tell WinME
where in upper memory to place the page frame. This is done by adding an EmmPageFrame=
statement in the c:\Windows\SYSTEM.INI file under [386Enh]. This can be easily accomplished
using the msconfig utility installed with WinME.
If you are unfamiliar configuring upper memory, or don’t have access to a good analysis
tool, you might try one of the following common settings...
EmmPageFrame=D000
EmmPageFrame=E000
EmmPageFrame=C400
EmmPageFrame=C800

This page tells you how to alter a line in your system.ini which will allow you to
run some DOS programs (I'm not sure if it works for all).
