I have a problem with my Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. It was working A OK until one day it came up with an error message saying Internet Explorer has encountered a problem we apologise for the inconvenience. Send Error Report/Don't Send Came Up. I have tried to run the ie6setup from the internet explorer folder in program files, and it says after finishing that setup couldnt finish and update the following...and Internet Explorer 6 And Internet Tools was one of them. I have also gone into add.remove programes and tried to remove it and then install it again, but it comes up with an error message as well. What can I do to make my internet explorer browser working again. I need Help PLEASE. Thankyou

This I tried because of the same problem but it didn't bring anything. I know that for XP there's a freeware that removes the message reporting feature but it doesn't work on win 98... Quite annoying thus...

I often get the "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and must close" error using Windows XP and get the option to send an error report. I believe you mentioned a freeware program to fix this bug? I generate the error message intermittently when browsing. The error message shows up when I try to make a keyboard input to the address bar, the query box in Google, the "To:" address in Outlook Express, etc. Thanks in advance for any help

This problem, believe it or not... I never managed to remove myself. Sooner or later I'll switch to a new board, new system,... new browser! Anyways, here's a clue I found in MS help pages: It's a long formated article so I don't post it here. It's named: "Description and Availability of Internet Explorer Error Reporting Tool (Q276550)" You can just put that query in a search-engine to find it back. Good luck! Christophe

Why not try disabling error reporting Open the control panel then open sytem, and select the advanced tab. near the bottom, click the Error Reporting button. click disable but select notify when critical errors occur

How to Disable Internet Explorer Error Reporting

To disable Internet Explorer Error Reporting, use one of the following methods, depending
on your computer.

Internet Explorer 6 for Windows XP
Click Start, and then click Control Panel (or point to Settings, and then click Control
Panel). Double-click System (or click Switch to Classic View, and then double-click
System). Click the Advanced tab, and then click Error Reporting.
Click Disable error reporting to disable both user and kernel-mode error reporting,
or click to clear the Programs check box. Click OK, and then click OK.

NOTE: Administrators can disable error reporting in Windows XP Professional by setting
Report Errors to Disabled in Group Policy Editor (Gpedit.msc) in the Computer Configuration\Administrative
Templates\System\Error Reporting folder.

Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or 6 for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows
Millennium Edition, Windows NT 4, Windows 2000

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that
you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry
Editor at your own risk.

In Registry Editor (Regedit.exe), create a DWORD value called IEWatsonEnabled and
set it to 0 in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Internet Explorer 5.0 - 5.5 SP1 (All Operating Systems)

To disable Internet Explorer Error Reporting, use the following steps:
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Add/Remove
Programs. In the list of installed programs, click Internet Explorer Error Reporting,
and then click Add/Remove (in Windows 98, Windows Me, or Windows NT 4.0) or Remove
(in Windows 2000). Click OK.

NOTE: Administrators can also redirect Internet Explorer Error Reporting crashes
to an internal server with Internet Explorer 6. For additional information about
redirecting Internet Explorer Error Reporting crashes to an internal server with
Internet Explorer 6, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft
Knowledge Base:

I had a similar problem that you all are having. I didn't find the answer online, but did solve it on my own. For some reason, I got the same error report which wouldn't open Internet Explorer. After opening Frontpage, and closing the Search window which was open and showing 'Could not find page,' I was able to exit and successfully open Internet Explorer. Go figure. See if this is the case with everyone.

i work as a technical support for a computer company and the easiest way to fix that
problem is (specifically if the system is connected to a broadband/cable/dsl internet
access and ie shows 'page cannot be displayed error') by going to CONTROL PANEL-->INTERNET
OPTIONS-->ADVANCED-->UNCHECK 'enable third party extensions'. i hope it helps :)

Windows ME, IE6, My home page is MSN.com I get the message ""The page cannot be displayed"". When i try other sites I get the same message as well. It started out first with the homepage hijacked by ""searchforit"" Then I tinkered with registry. After seeing this message, i have installed Norton and spyware software. Thx - VJ

This thread, though old, matches my problem with both Internet explorer and Netscape either not connecting to a site or doing so very slowly and not able to go to other sites after displayed. The connection is good as i am online with the same cable on another computer, and my network places shows all the other computers online. So why wont the browsers work on my ME computer? Works fine on all my other XP computers Using a wireless router off a DSL modem.
