I have a question about When I choose "Shut Down" from the Start Menu, my computer restarts instead of shutting down:

My computer either restarts or I get the blue error screen . What causes this and what can be done to fix it?

I don't know but this may be a way around it ... Right-click on your desktop, choose 'New', choose 'Shortcut'. In the 'Create Shortcut' box that appears, type ... C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE User,ExitWindows ... in the 'Command Line' box . Click next, choose any name, and you will have a shortcut that should shut down your computer.
