Question about 'Troubleshooting Driver Problems'

(2 messages posted)
Here's one for you....I have recently purchased a Sony digital camera. When I first
got it I loaded a driver from the disc that came with it so that I could download
onto computer. Everything worked just fine. Owing to a number of reasons I recently
had to re-install Windows. Since then each time I attempt to load the driver from
CDrom I get a box appear that says IKernel has found an error in IKERNEL.EXE IKernel
will now close. I haven't any idea what is wrong, and am unable to load any driver.
Help please!

IKERNELL.EXE is found in *C:\Program files\Common files\InstallShield\engine\6\Intell32*
its size is 589Kb and it is dated 11/04/2001 Descriptive Version 6,30,100,1255 in
US English by the InstallShield Software Corporation. (Short Version 6,30)
As it is damaged and forms part of the InstallShield system you should probably get
a new one. As I can not find this file in my Cabinet files I cannot "extract" a new
one, so maybe nor can you, but as mine is possibly the same version as yours and
mine does work, I can always send you a copy, if you are prepared to send me your
email address.
Rename your IKERNEL.OLD (retain!) and place the new one in the emplacement shown
above marked * & * . If the new one works then I suggest you keep a copy on diskette
and delete the faulty one. Iain.

Either obtain a new IKERNELL.EXE or as KaZaA can be VERY damaging to your computer
try installing KaZaA Lite which "should" be free from spyware.

Hey Iain,
I´m having the same problems with the iKernel.exe file. If you could possibly send
a copy of it to me, I´d be more than happy. Otherwise you could name me some site
where I can download it. Anyways, thanks a lot.

Hi Mateus and Happy New Year. If your email suffix is Brazil, I suggest you try locally
as you might have a language variant. My OS is in French. Iain.
