Question about 'Downloading Windows Updates'

I have a P3 1000 with 256 DDR Ram, 3500 voodoo video card running ME. I tried to download an update, but it didn't finish installing. I tried to resume and restart installation, but neither worked. Since then my system resources seem to used up a lot quicker, and some internet pages won't load. I get an installation upon demand box followed by a installation failed please choose windows update under the tools menu later message. This comes up at quite a lot o pages, and I wouldn't care if I could just go to the windows update page, but it will not load at all. Hotmail has this too, but it will work after clicking OK. Lots of other pages won't work at all. Any help would be apreciated thank you all sorry if this posted twice, i don't know what i hit and had to retype this... sorry again

It would help if you bothered to tell us what program failed to install from Windows Update. If it was IE 6, then this can cause major problems and takes a lot of work to clear. Other wise:

Go to your C: drives "Program Files" folder, and look for the folder Windows Update. It is a hidden folder, so you may have to click Tools, Folder Options, View, and select the "Show hidden files and folders" button to see it. Select the Windows Update folder and Delete it.

Once deleted, reboot system and try going to the Windows Update site again and down loading updates.

I am terribly sorry about the lack of vital info there. You want to know if it was a patch for IE6 or the full version? I am looking at what I wrote down (on real paper) and supposidly I downloaded Q321232: Security Update AND Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 . Does this help? I really have no idea what happened, is there some way for me check in my computer somewhere for the records? Could it be a problem with javascript? Thank you again very much

Nope, it didn't help a thing, I found the file with no problem though. So, what do we do now? Please help me if you have any clues, I would appreciate it very much. Thank-you in advance! Susan

I, too, am experiencing the same problem with installing. Has anyone supplied you with a proper (effective) answer?
