While installing ATI Tech. Software Bundle V 7.6 for my All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500DV
the Remote Wonder Part of the install generated " Feature Transfer Error-Error 1612/The
installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists
and that you can acess it."All other parts of the software installed correctly. Why
did just the Remote install fail?
ATI sent me alot of things to do except what pertains to the question at hand.(No
Help)lSystem Info:Gateway Performance1000/40GB/1000mhz/512megRam/WinMe/Clean Install
/SYS At Tip Top. Thanx.

I am currently having the same trouble. They are having me do this and that and quite
frankly, I think the programmers at ATI have thier collective heads up thier asses.
Same error code and it keeps trying to search my A: Drive...... for what????? Go
figure....
If I find a correction I will post it.

Dear Dave,
I am having the same error 1612 problem with my Remote Wonder install. ATI customer
service told me to close down all other programs, which did not help in the least.
The installation program hunts and checks drive A just before halting and giving
the error notice.
Have you solved the problem yet?
Any further advice would be appreciated.

I realize this thread is a bit stale but it's unfortunately quite current to me (having
the same problem). Did anyone find a solution? Thanks in advance.

The problem was in fact the windows installer. For some reason it didn't
know where the original install for the remote was, so would not update it;
or allow me to uninstall it. I use win98se which comes with windows
installer version 1.1. I remember installing a program that wanted windows
installer v2.0, which I installed. That's probably the root of the problem,
trying to update programs with win installer 2.0 that were installed with
win installer 1.1.
Anyway, I located and deleted the remotes installer (ATI Remote Wonder
1.2.msi) and ripped out all references to the remote wonder installation in
the registry under these keys for the installer:
HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Installer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer
I didn't find the ATI Remote Wonder 1.2.msi file until after I ripped
everything out of the registry. So perhaps all you have to do is delete
this file and leave the registry alone. Try deleting (or moving) this file
before you touch the registry, it just may work.

Thanks. I ended up removing all the installer references from the old install from
the registry and this solved the problem, and then I reinstalled the program and
it works fine now. It was quite the "catch 22".
