I have a question about Can't
access some websites while using a shared PPPoE connection:
I can't ping my host machine. Whenever I try to ping it from one of my clients running
Windows ME using any value equal or below 1472, it returns me a "Time out" message.
Any value equal or above 1473 gives me a "fragmented packet" message, so what can
I do. I'm unable to set the right MTU because of this. I would thank any help

Mario, this is just a thought. Could it be that you made a mistake when you wrote
down the response to the WINIPCFG command? Perhaps the too-high MTU value is detected
by the PING command before it actually tries to address the server. And when you
use a sufficiently low MTU the wrong address is used, which will result in a time-out,
I'm sure.
Also, have you noticed the posts by people who were successful? They indicate a
slight (but important) deviation from the original solution. Check out Tim on March
22, Ton on May 25, and Bearcatnat on July 7.
