System boots up on its own

Please can anyone help, I have a friend who is running Windows me on an A-Trend motherboard
with onboard sound and graphics. It also has a celeron 600mhz processor, 196mb of
pc133 memory, a Fujitsu 16gb hard drive, a 52x cd drive and an LG 4120B DVD/CDRW
combo drive. When you shut the system down it shuts down as normal, but however after
about 30 to 40 minutes sometimes longer it starts itself up with no help from anyone.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so have you got any ideas please.

I have found that problem on a couple of occasions too, I am losing patience with
this unstable, and abandoned (support wise) OS. I turn it off at the power supply
now. I also had to disable "connect automatically" from my dial-up connection as
that was trying to reconnect after I asked to disconnect! Saving up for XP now, goodbye
legacy crap, and good luck to those financially stuck with it!

Working with the information that you've given I have a couple of questions...
Does this mystery power up happen when the phone rings?
Have you checked your bios and specified "do not wake on modem/lan"?
Check it out,
Good luck.... Hectro
