Windows ME - View Thumnails as Default Setting

I have been trying to set the view setting on my ArcSoft PhotoSuite 2000 program
to view "Thumnails" as my default setting so that every time I try to open up a photo,
I will view the thumbnail image and not just the file name. The setting always defaults
to view my photos in "List" format. I am told by ArcSoft that it is a Microsoft
issue since this command is comming from them and not Photosuite. Of couse Microsoft's
generic response is that it is not a Microsoft issue. Something is causing the default
to be in "List" setting as opposed to "Thumbnails" or "Details" etc. How can I change
this? Thanks! Tom

Hi Tom,
If you already have "Remember each folders's view settings" set in Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder
Options>View checked then try repairing the Internet Explorer: Open the Control Panel,
select Add/Remove Programs, choose your version of Microsoft Internet Explorer and
click Add/Remove. In the window that opens select Repair.
Regards,
Ron

Thanks Ron, I gave that a try. Is there something else I need to do after that?
It is still doing the same thing and my folder setting is set to remember settings.
Thanks, Tom.

Hi Tom,
OK then lets try another approach: Find the folder that you want to display thumbnails
and open it in an Explorer window. Now click Tools > Folder Options... > View. Now
click Reset All Folders. Close the Folder Options window and change the view to thumbnails.
Close the explorer and restart the computer. Check if that keeps the thumbnail view.

Ron

I also have this problem with my Auction Manager software "Shooting Star" by foodogsoftware.com.
This is actually just as important for me to view thumnails when I insert photos
into my auction ads.

Hi Ron, I tried what you suggested but when I restarted, the photos did not remain
in thumbnail view. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Tom, I only have one more suggestion.
Repeat the previous suggestion except first set your preferred folder to thumbnails
but this time click Like Current View. If this sticks then you may have to manually
reset other folders which you might prefer to show details or icons instead of thumbnails.

Ron
