I have the same problem on my comp to. It use to work fine but I have upgraded to win98 me and it no longer works. I double click on the shortcut to outlook express and then I get the message Msimn has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL. I had version 5.5 installed, so I upgraded to version 6 - still no joy. I went into the registry and deleted the users and unistalled it and then tried to re-install it and I still get the same errors. I tried this a few times with different versions but I still get the same error message, its driving me mad....

Right, I was so annoyed I was going to partition my hard drive and have a dual booot ME / XP machine. To do this I had to partition the hard drive and defrag it. I tried this and defrag said my disk had errors that needed repairing. This was strange as it was a brand new HD. I tried to use scandisk utility and when I tried the screen went black and nothing happend. I hit reset a few times and forced it to run scan disk. When it had finished I ran defrag and all was ok. I double clicked on outlook and it opened first time. Touch wood all seems fine now. Maybe you had to reset or something when you originally installed outlook or configured it and that is what has caused the error. Good Luck.... Ran.

Thank you for your help but unfortunately I had to delete all Outlook Express from my system and reinstall it starting with IE 5 then 6. Now all is running well "touch wood" and I no longer have the message "touch wood" again.

Hello, Open outlook express, after getting the error, click on tools, then click on options, then click on connection, now, remove the check mark on the box that says "HANG UP AFTER SENDING AND RECEIVING". -Charles
