I found this on google. hope it works. Cure for missing msvcr70.dll and mscoree.dll By Charles L. Smart Many users who install the current build of the Microsoft.Net SDK complain that the C# compiler does not work and C# executables will not run. Error messages note that msvcr70.dll and mscoree.dll, respectively, are missing from their system directories. Here is the cure. Uninstall the samples and the sdk. Then restart the computer in safe mode. These are several ways to do this. The old way still works: hold down the F8 key during startup until the computer starts beeping. You will be presented with a list, select 3 - Safe Mode. If instead you see the desktop, you waited too long, try again. Browse to the big Setup.exe file that contains the sdk. Reinstall the Microsoft.Net SDK. The files msvcr70.dll and mscoree.dll are now in your system folder. Restart the computer in Normal mode. The csc.exe compiler will work, and c# exe's will run.

I'm getting this same message. Missing "mscoree.dll". But I'm totally confused. I don't know what you mean by the "current build of the Microsoft.Net SDK." What is that? Is that a program? I never loaded anything like that. Could you please talk in more "layman" terms and tell me how to deal with this missing file. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Zürich, 16. Januar 2003 Hi Jeff. Soon is TuB'ischvat. As for mscoree.dll, I think I got it. When Jack looked it up in Google, he missed the site with the funny characters. Here it is: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mscoree Please notice that it is bilingual: funny(swidish?) and english Follow the steps: click on sponsors, then download, and then open it with Winzip. Unzip the file on C:\windows\system I did copy it also in C:\windows\system32 just in case. yours, daniel bergmann from costa rica, living in Zurich

The problem was reported by Norton utilities and could not be repaired by it. So I downloaded the missing file from: www.dll-files.com into: c:\windows\system\mscoree.dll

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP. I DOWNLOADED THE MISSING FILE AND PLACED IT IN THE WINDOWS/SYSTEM folder and then ran my Norton again: it worked perfectly. No problems detected on my machine. I don't have a clue what the little file does, but Norton is happy. Thanks again.

I have to agree with Tom here - - and a few others I see have written (don't forget to give Daniel some credit also). Norton reported the problem - I have no clue what the DLL does - but placing it in the C:\Windows\System subdir does satisfy Norton. I must also agree with Bob - I don't know what was meant in Jack's reply by the "current build of the Microsoft.Net SDK." I also have to ask - What is that? Is that a program? I never loaded anything like that either. But I think the others have answered the question for now. Thanks for all the good input to follow on my own computer.

I am running XP pro and had the same error reported from NSW 2003. Putting the mscoree.dll file in the C:Windows\System folder didn't work. I put the file in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\0701\Intel32 folder and my problem was solved.

I am so amazed how so many can make a simple issue a problem. I searched forever, looking at creating all kinds of programs to "fix" the problem and then after many hours I found what I knew to be true... a website that had the .dll that I needed! Idindn't need to reboot, go in safe mode, create buy a program to replace a file that no one can say what it is for. Thanks so much for posting this message.

Ok you guys want to know what the microsoft dotnet framework is. It is a program that is used to interperet programs that are written in the .net SDK's aka Visual Studio, all windows machines have this installed and if by some chance they dont as soon as they add a program that needs it the program installs the needed version of the dotnet framework. Sumtimes these files are corrupt or when you uninstall it hits mscoree.dll as a shared dll and if you delete all shared dlls (free software that has uninstallers that are iffy) it will go with it. This is to my best understanding of what the MSCOREE.DLL and the dotnet framework do.
