When attempting to access web pages, blank Explorer pages appear instead. The desired page or site refuses to load. I would be grateful if anyone could advise me how to rectify thw problem. Thanks.

Have you cleared all your Temporary internet files, cookies, temp files? Have you run a defrag lately? Have you scanned for spyware? Have you tried to repair Internet Explorer? Added new software/hardware? Have you scanned for viruses? Have you applied all the appropropriate Windows Updates? These questions need to be answered to help eliminate any possible causes. :)

Running this IE patch will replace the dll files causing the problem.

Run the patch and answer 'Yes' when prompted to replace the files.

Who the hell in thier right mind is going to download/execute something if they don't know what it is? I know what that file refers to,but I would love to know how you knew/thought it applied to his problem, given the lack of details he provided.

That was a very pleasing response to my suggestion and not even from the OP! If you
don't quite understand the problem, as simon says; "When attempting to access
web pages, blank Explorer pages appear instead". You don't need to have a tissie
fit about it. That Microsoft patch has been around forever and one of it's purposes
is exactly what seems to be the problem here. The download specifically states 'Microsoft',
so should someone think it's a virus or what? What's the difference in you suggesting
someone to download and run Ad-Aware or SpyBot?

The patch replaces several dll files, in particular the OLEAUT32.DLL. The file can
be extracted from the systems CD, but the patch is much easier for most people. Another
possibility is the URLMON.DLL and it's usually suggested to re-register it for this
problem. Furthermore, it can't harm the system and if these to techniques don't resolve
the problem, a reinstall of IE is usually necessary anyway.

End of story, no reason to respond!

Dont mind that other crap, this is the way Try the following: 1) Close all open Windows. 2) Click on start. 3) Go to run. 4) Type in regsvr32 urlmon.dll (note the space after 32 and the dot before dll). 5) It should say succeeded. 6) Try Internet Explorer again

The cowboy is right... The other fix didn't work, and I have Adaware and Spybot. I also have Reget and I suspect that could be the culprit. But, now new windows open small -not maximized... How do I change that?
