To fully clear the disk of ALL data use your Windows Start-Up diskette to get to
the A:\> prompt and type: A:\>format C: and press enter. BUT ... !
Have you checked that you have sufficient RAM to operate XP and have you checked
the compatibility of XP with your Hardware AND with your Software too ??
ABSOLUTE MINIMUM 256Mb and better with 512Mb RAM.
PerformanceImprovement
AlwaysUnloadDll
NTFS/FAT

Thanks for the information, I have 393mb of ram also downloaded drivers for printer,
scanner and camera, I tried to install on top of Win me but could not override Windows
me, but found out that Windows xp did not recognize modem, so I thought if I remove
modem and install it again, that Windows xp would recognize it, is that a good route
to go, or best to download driver.
I tried partitioning with partition magic, I had too many partition, so I delete,
merge and copy into 1 drive. One question can I have 2 primary drives or 1 primary
and 1 logical, that would mean I still have to format drive C because Windows xp
can't override Windows Me, so anyway, I had to reload everything again
Thanks for the information

Un-install and re-install the Modem seems the only way to go. Either XP has the driver
or you will have to find one. On each PHYSICAL drive, you normally have a PRIMARY
(logical) DOS drive followed by an EXTENDED DOS drive with partitions in the extended
DOS drive. I have never tried doing it another way, and I have never bothered with
dual-boot for multiple operating systems as it does not interest me, as I have never
seen a business, or engineering firm, do this, so your guess is as good as mine.
There must be a book (local library, or Partition Magic manual) that describes the
full range of possibilities.
I stick with fdisk.exe and format.com for disk up to and beyond 64Gb there is an
up-dated version which will regognise the drive-space over 64Gb. PM 8.0 costs $80+
here and the others are for free!
Good luck with the rest of your re-install, and thanks for letting me know. Iain.
