Memory Manager in Windows Me

I have a question about Do
I still need CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT?:
I arranged Windows Me to enter Real Dos Mode at boot-up with shift-F8 with the help
of this webpage :
http://www.geocities.com/mfd4life_2000/
Now I downloaded dos drivers for my sound blaster Live. The only problem is that
I need to put 2 lines in my config.sy which are about emm386.exe and himem.sys. When
I load himem, it says that Windows has already its own xms memory manager and with
emm386.exe command line, the computer refuses to go further. If I cannot run this
memory manager, the sound card will not work in Real Dos Mode. So what's the special
lines I should enter in my config.sys to run properly this memory manager?

Jean
I am confused. Why are you running ME in MS-DOS mode? Not a good idea. ME Isn't designed
to work in DOS Mode.

There's nothing wrong with running ME in DOS mode. Normally, you need to boot with
a startup disk to get into DOS, and the patch works fine.

Carol,
I know there's nothing wrong with running ME in DOS mode. I was questioning the reasoning
for requiring a DOS driver ? I am surmising that Jean is trying to run an old MS
application that won't work under ME... if so, which one?
