When I try to view a .jpg or a .bmp with Image Preview on my [Windows ME] computer,
I get the following error.

Error loading C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHIMGVW.DLL
One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found.

If you could please tell me what i need to do to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I tried downloading fixpix.vbs, but that didn't change anything. I really don't understand what it is I need to do from the Microsoft page either. If someone could help I would be EXTREMELY grateful.

Specifically, I don't understand what I am supposed to do when the microsoft site says to 'delete the key' and then reregister. Again, thank you.

I'm having almost the exact same problem. I get the error but it says a device attached to this system is not functioning. It started after i had to use my recovery disk because i was having problems with adaptec (which came bundled with this pc) I've tried everything mentioned on this site, as well as others and nothing has worked. When i re-registered I got another error saying something to the effect of it failing to load the library. Anyone know of anything else to try? I'm totally un-computer knowledgable so any help would be appreciated!

ok this is not somthing your computer did on its own,,you guys and gals are a victom of some greedy ,self lothing ,software devolopers atempt to create a market for there product!!! there is an age old saying that goes somthing like this. if you want to find whats causing the problem,,,just look for whos selling the solution! http://healthycomputerclub.net/Software/PCRescue/aff0214.html http://www.google.com/pagead/iclk?adurl=http://www.dllfix.net/&sa=l&ai=AHVo4wwMfB5a6RIsjKGw8yzY5GkKqcaQnnvfuBsdo4jQOCAqTAA99HEQBCgpFFSd9-PAAAAAABAAA&num=2 http://www.google.com/pagead/iclk?adurl=http://www.pcdocrx.net/cgi-bin/view.cgi/google57/download.html%3Fgoogle_dll&sa=l&ai=AcmiXwwMfB5a6RIsjKGw8yzY5GkpqIeQ8OKbjBsdo4jQOBAqTAApkUEQBBgpF_Oer_PAAAAAABAAA&num=1 these are some of the rotten no good people who added code to a web page that you visited ,,and soon as you got there your windows regestry was altered! and there is no quik fix,,,sure if you buy there product,it might fix the problem and cause you other problems so you spend more money,,fixing the next problem,,and so on and so on!!,,,my advice to you poor souls who have been victomised,to do the following,,, backup your harddrive,,then reformat it!,,,then reinstall your os,,,after that take your pc offline!!!!! and find you a junk pc to browse the net with,,, when you find good stuff you wanna keep transfer it to you good pc... and when your junk pc get all screwed up from adware,,,virus,,ect ect.. just reformat it and reinstall os.... that is about the safest way to keep your good pc in good health.. untill they make a law against malisious code and enforce it!!!! the widow

I am with the last reply. backup your data and reformat the comp. reinstall os. In my knowledge that is the best solution. it fixes any other bugs, ads and junks these *&!#ing websites might have created. i dont know if there is a registry key back up. if there is one. you wouldnt have to do this time consuming reformat junk. especially if you got a huge hard drive....
