i have just got an old computer off of someone but cannot start it up.all i get is
asking for a windows password and then a BLUE screen.anybody help thanks. si

This may sound drastic but shut your system down.Pull the battery from your Main
board and leave it out for a few seconds(30).Put the battery back in,this should
reset the password.You may need to do a reinstall if all else fails.

Hi JIm sorry this is not a reply to the message but another query in this string.I
have a similiar problem and have not been able to solve it.My query now is how do
you reinstall.My computer only shows a blank screen on bootup.I have tried booting
with floppy disk.There is no response.

I need more information.I am understanding that your computer is not finding your
floppy and you can't boot from a disk.When the computer starts post hit delete or
whatever you have to to get into CMOS.Check to see that your computer boots from
floppy first.Boot from floppy with CD support.When you get the command prompt A:>
type in setup C: and hit enter.If I am missing something please email me directly
and I will help you out.
